Shine

Richard March
He comes out struttin' like a kid up in a candy store
With a coupon that says
You can have it all and more
But he's not reaching for the bags
To fill his pockets full
He grabs his guitar and starts to play,
That's what he came here for
He's happy, no more junk he put the monkey down
Watched his waxy wings just melt away
It left him spiraling down
He almost checked out with a fatal fall
But somewhere deep inside
He heard a child screaming just
Hang on; you know you can't leave now,
It wouldn't be right.
Keep playing your songs, you gotta show me how
We can shine so bright
They come to see him 'cause
It frees 'em up and makes them feel
Like the children that they were before the hardness killed every little flower
Full of faith and hope and joy enough
He comes like a savior raining down on them with so much love
So much love, so much love
Sometimes it hurts so much you wonder what the reason is
Sadness turns to anger and well
Who the hell would want to live
And give your heart up in a world
That only seems to make you pay
Yeah, "You get yours and I'll get mine"
Until you find you're wasting
Away, you're eaten inside out
Just learning to die, you're losing your
Days, to all the fear and doubt, believing the lies
Yeah, "Why even try?"
Oh Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Let your praised reign
For every girl and boy who finds the strength to suffer through the pain
Standing on the stage of life
To sacrifice their precious time
Giving all they got in love and
Shining bright as they can shine
